Omotola continues her 20th Aniversery

Nollywood star, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde continues the celebration of her 20th anniversary in the entertainment industry by paying a visit to Stella Maris College in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja over the weekend. The famous Nollywood star also used the event to flagoff her tour of 20 cities in the world as part of the ones outlined for the celebration. The 20th anniversary commenced with a dinner at the Sandralia Hotel, Abuja on Saturday, January 24, 2015. Omotola disclosed that her coming to the school was an opportunity to encourage members of the younger generation to believe in themselves for a better nation while emphasising the need for Nigerians to value themselves even more. She also used the occasion to launch her pet project ‘I gat Value’ and also motivated the young pupils by sharing her experience while growing and achieving stardom. According to her: Starting a career as a young girl of 16, all I wanted was to help my widowed mother provide for our young family. I stumbled on the opportunity to model freely, and by fate, I was invitedto a movie casting. Who knew as frightened and vulnerable as I was then, that I was starting the journey of my destiny? 20 years later, not only did I provide for my now late widowed  mother, I also helped train two younger ones and earned myself  a career in Nollywood, an industry that I helped start with practically nothing, but which has gone on to become the 2nd largest English producing and 3rd largest movie industry in the world. Fascinated by her story, the students described Omotola as a living legend and a role model to many of them. They celebrated her as a humble wife and great mother who has kept her marriage intact unlike many of her contemporaries. The students urged her to share her secrets of success with them as they wantto grow up to be like her.Representative of the students, Isigwe Chiamaka, in her opening remarks, celebrated the actress’ achievements and thanked her for choosing their school as a flag-off point for her 20-city world tour.Omotola, who is also a United Nations Peace Ambassador, is married to Matthew Ekeinde and theyhave 4 children. Skales get 200M deal from BaseLine Records

Since Skale's departure from E.M.E early in the year, Raoul Njeng-Njengaka ‘Skales’ has been on HEAT every were. First he unveiled his own record label, then he dropped a couple of chart topping singles, got he signed on to a new record label, acquired a new car and he’s preparing to drop his elusive album in November 2014. Well, here’s the real story of his new mouth watering record deal with Baseline Records, according to investigations Today. The first advantage of his deal is the fact that despite being signed on to Baseline, led by industry veteransHowie T andDipo Abdul, Skales gets to still maintain control and leadership of his own label OHK records, where he nurtures and grooms fast rising acts and producers. And we’ve been reliably told his Baseline deal is worth nearly N200m. An industry source familiar with the details of his contract told us the terms ensure he gets a brand new car, a house, cash advance, and upkeep allowance, all totalling about N200m. It’s the most expensive recording deal in the industry, and a huge surprise, considering the hard times labelsand marketers are facing, and the flight of investment from labels. But Baseline has deep pockets, according to those who know. And, following Howie T and other consultants’ guidance, it appears they are ready to shake things up.The label did not confirm the figures, with Howie saying ‘I cannot give you any specific figure because we don’t want other artistes to start running to us, however what I can tell you is that the deal is worth hundreds of millions. It includes his new car, new house and total lifestyle package. We are changing his whole lifestyle ’Skales' will be at the NEA awards in New York at the end of the month, after that he’s going to London for a concert, and then to Canada on a tour,[then] he’ll drop his album in November. So you see it’s a total package, we don’t want to create any form of distraction by revealing any figures, but trust me it’s a huge deal, it’s about the biggest deal in the industry at the moment. Baseline is owned by one of Kessington Adebutu’s sons but totally run by Howie T and Dipo Abdul of KISS Group.

Full details on why D'bang broke up with Mo'hit

D'banj was interviewed by Olisa Adibua on his chat show, ‘The Truth' where he was questioned about how he started his career, how he and Don Jazzy met, and what led to Mo'Hits Record's breakup and deal with the foreign rapper: Kanye west.
Question: How did you bound with Don Jazzy?
Ans:  We bonded before we left the UK because Don Jazzy was out with his partnership with JJC. Because I was privileged to be his friend to know what had happened and what was happening back home.Rugged man had reached out to me once and told me the kind of money they were collecting, which when I converted it it was like 1,800 poundsor $2,000 per show and I waslike whatt? The people raining in the industry were styl-plus,2face's plantashun boys. Before we even didanything, we listened to what they were playing in Nigeria.Jazzy was fond of that ..Oh boy this one don dey make money oh..(we listen)..Welistened to music of everyone making money ..So when I found outhe had major issues with JJC , I said"Oh boy, lets go back home".So we came back, my parents were here.By then he had moved all his family over there. We came back in 2004 and moved straight into my mum's boys quarter in Mary land.We got a first car,Toyota Privera from her ..We said we will pay her later .Bad car oh..and we paid her for it eventually. We got Tongolo, the first video and released it in November, just before Christmas and that was it...

Question: What caused Mo'hit split?.
Ans: Haven't you guys spoken to DonJazzy?. Don, tell them the truth mehn..Come and tell them these people the truth..What broke Mohits..Hmmn Difference of opinion.. First of all it wasn't me. We had traveled and left Donjazzy in New York with some of the management team because he had a production deal. We were trying to go global.. I would love if you had the Truth from Jazzy too,it would have been better. I met Kanye west, but you all know I am a businessman. But there were two different deals. One he saw I was an artist, and he wanted to sign that artist. Then this artist said "I have a producer. We have the best thing coming from Africa... And he was sold. And then we flew to New York

Question: What about paying Kenye?
Ans: I got an artiste deal.I got a standard artiste deal because Kanye wanted to sign me as an artist. Then I said nooo.. I'm a businessman. I have a record label can do partnership. It was a partnership between Mohits record, Goodmusic and DefJam records. It wasn't going to be Dbanj and Donjazzy. I was just the first part of the deal. There was also a production deal because Kanye loved Jazzy's sound .. On why Jazzy pulled out He saw the big picture but some people are real. You can force a horse to a river, but you can't force it to drink water ..

Question: What caused the Brake up?
Ans: Eh first person if I will be truthful will be Dr Sid (Laughs). We came back from Newyork and had ameeting with Donjazzy..And Jazzy expressed his discomfort like listen, this place is too expensive, we are spending money ..Going to stay there, things dey happen for Nigeria,we are already bosses here..We don't need all this ..I'm like we are almost there. It is expensive but we can't guarantee because its a doggy world out there..I said to him, listen brother ,this is not uncertainty. For Kanye West to see us,na God..and he said he didn't want us to do it again..He wasn't interested. But I told him because I had sensed it before the last concert we had.I told the lawyers in New York. They were trying to get him to come around but he didn't .So we had that meeting and he said he didn't want me as a partner again .That there was alot..I told him to give me 6 months..to convince himagain..maybe to sell my share to someone else, take the money to go and try again ..I saw it wasn't working and he formed a synergy with SID.It was clear. He wasn't comfortable around me .My mistake was, I wasn't sensitive enough to have noticed ..So December 2011, during a general meeting after 6 months, he said he had thought about it and wasn't interested ..Infact, not just him..That this one is not interested, this one is not interested(mo hits members)..I said ah! I was heartbroken. Kswitch is my brother..But the truth? K-switch was with them ..People were not comfortable..Now I look at it, maybe I did change..We all changed ..It wasn't money. It was because we ran mo hits record likea family. That's why we failed

Redeemers University suspends Students for coming late to Church

According to sources, Redeemers University is about to suspend 22 students today for missing church activities. The source who informed us said one of the students who missed not going to church had asthma attack and missed it, but their porters felt it’s none of their business. The students have been asked to go and inform their parents of the suspension and parents are planning to storm the school this morning. This is what they are fighting for. The school’s students handbook already made it clear that ‘Absence form corporate worship hours’ will attract a deduction of 10points from the offenders total 100 points. So parents now wonder why the schoolis planning to suspend them, which willmake them not seat for their forthcoming exams and will also make them cough out another N400,000 as school fees. Above is what one of themsent, underlining the penalty for their offense, which clearly says it’s a reduction of 10points.The source also made it clear that she is very much aware that Pastor Adeboye does not know how some of these porters victimize some of the students. She said when the bold ones among them confronted their porters that their offence does not warrant a suspension, they told them, we know, we just want to make you scape goats.

Asari-DOkubo Vows to Retaliate on Jonathans Convoy

Prominent Niger Delta warlord and ex-militant, Mujaheed Asari-Dokubo, has threatened that the people of the Niger Delta will respond in equal measure to Tuesday’s attack on the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan in Katsina.

There were reports of an attack on President Jonathan’s convoy in Katsina after his visit to the family of late President Umaru Yarádua in Katsina just moments after his campaign in the town.

Speaking to newsmen at a press conference in Abuja, Asari-Dokubo vowed that attack on the president would not go without retaliation. “There is an established pattern of pre and post-election violence in the north.

In the 50s when late Awolowo was campaigning in the north, he went with helicopters and he was mocked,” he said.

“People said he was flying over the houses and peeping at their wives. That has continued and everywhere in the country, people say leave them alone. We don’t want any trouble. But I think the game has changed. The rules of the game have changed. “For every action, there will be an opposite and equal reaction. I knew that the signing of the accord was useless and that the president subjected himself to sign such an accord… for me, it was out of place for a president and commander in chief of the armed forces of a country.

But the president is a humble person. He does things that even marvel some of us and make us sometimes to be very angry. “To be frank, I was very angry on that day they were signing it. The president has sworn to protect the lives of every Nigerian. So, why would he after taking a constitutional oath subject himself to another oath? “So what happened in Katsina is not a surprise. But don’t be surprised. We are putting the world on notice that they have started first. When we reply, let no body talk because we are going to reply. We did not sign any accord with them. They did not sign. They are talking about election violence now because they know that other people will respond.

“Before, they had the monopoly of violence, so nobody cared who died. Our lives were not valuable and they had all the latitude to wreak havoc and did what they liked. But the game has changed. Be bold enough to tell them that game has changed. If they slice our throat, we are going to slice your throat. They stoned the president, you will hear from us. That’s the answer.

“My concern is what happens after the election because we know they will do what they are known to do every time. But this time, they will cry. So all Igbo people who are there, if you don’t come back home and you want to continue to be there and something happens to you, there is nobody to be blamed.

If you have a child who is a youth corper and you allow him to be there, you will not hold anybody responsible.” He reiterated his position that Jonathan would win the February 14 presidential election, adding that those who were planning violence would be defeated.

“There is no way Goodluck will not win the election. We will win them and we know they are preparing for violence in consonance with some foreign powers. When they do that, we will respond disproportionately. We will respond. That’s what we are going to do. If you hit me with a stick, I am going to hit you with iron. I am not speaking in riddles. I am speaking in plain language. My English may not be very good. I am speaking in my own street language. We are going respond disproportionately and we are unapologetic.

“The people who are in Katsina who did not hold their children should also know that I will not hold my children. I assure you, nothing will happen anywhere if they do not initiate violence.

Did we ask them to stone the president yesterday? Do you want us to fold our arms so that they will kill him? “Let them stop the violence. When they do, we will stop. A situation where Shekau will stand and say Niger Delta we are coming for you. Goodluck I am coming for you. You are a man and I am a man. We are going to look at each other eyeball to eyeball. You can shoot and I can shoot. You can kill and I can kill. You can destroy and I can destroy.

“The question is not for me. It is for Buhari, el-Rufai, Shekau. They are the people you have to direct this question to. Go and ask Buhari why he allowed his people to stone the president and commander-in-chief in Katsina. There must be balance of terror. One person does not have the prerogative to kill, maim and destroy.”
